Ever had a recipe you absolutely love but wondered how to make a larger or smaller version of it? This is a question we get asked a lot

 This handy guide should help you with how to change a recipe to bake it in a different sized tin.

 

As a rule of thumb, a square tin holds about 25% more than a round tin of the same size so if converting from an 8-inch round to an 8-inch square you multiply all ingredients by 1.25

 

We have our popular Madeira and Chocolate fudge cake recipes which you can use as a base for a 3-inch round 8-inch cake. 

 

Both tins should be roughly the same depth when using these conversion ratios.

So how do I easily get 1.8 times an egg? There are 2 ways of dealing with this conundrum. On converted amount on eggs it if it says for example 11.8 I round it up to 12. Another option is to make a slightly larger mix keeping the whole egg to rest of ingredients ratio and the freeze the mix that is left over or make some cupcakes,
